Live Puglia

Puglia, land of intellectuals, artists, creatives. Culture, in all its facets, has made this land great.

Here we propose events and opportunities to discover it.

La Notte della Taranta

Melpignano (LE)

“La Notte della Taranta” is the largest festival in Italy and one of the most significant events on popular culture in Europe. It takes place in Salento and is specifically dedicated to the rediscovery and enhancement of traditional Salento music and its fusion with other musical languages, from world music to rock, from jazz to symphonic music.

The festival’s formula, which culminates in the final Concertone in Melpignano (LE) -capable of involving alone by now about one hundred and fifty thousand spectators – is characterized in a totally original and innovative way by the presence of a Maestro Concertatore, invited to reinterpret the “classics” of the local musical tradition using a group of about thirty of the best Salento musicians, together with exceptional guests from the national and international music scene.

Il Libro Possibile

Polignano a Mare (BA)

Il Libro Possibile is today one of the most significant cultural events in the Italian scene. It was born in 2002 on the initiative of the cultural association Artes, with the aim of bringing culture – and books – to the squares, making it accessible to everyone.

In the sign of the Mediterranean tradition, the Festival brings together different worlds – Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, entrepreneurs, scientists and magistrates, journalists and institutional representatives, athletes and actors, artists and TV personalities – providing multiple angles of observation of reality.

The Festival takes place in the first decade of July in the main squares of the center of Polignano a Mare where, from 7 pm until late at night, meetings with illustrious exponents of the national and international cultural scene take place simultaneously.

Phest

Monopoli (BA)

PhEST is photography, cinema, music, art, and contamination from the Mediterranean. It was born from a need to give a voice to the many identities that make up the sea in the midst of the lands, to redefine a new and personal imaginary.

The need is not to sew up the distance that the Mediterranean creates between these identities, because this sea actually creates and puts them in relation, but to stitch up the rift between reality and its representation outside the theater of truth, from the scene of truth that the West is often able to construct.

The geographical area of interest, never really restrictive and always ready to change, extend, focus, coincides with the natural panoramic view from here, from Monopoli, from Puglia: the Mediterranean, the Balkans, the Middle East, Africa and beyond.

Hell in the Cave

Castellana Grotte (BA)

A show that combines dance, voices, sounds, and lights in the natural scenery of the Grotte di Castellana. A spectacular performance with macroscopic dimensions, a grand and important multimedia setup that can embrace the entire natural environment as a stage space, where innovative theatrical dynamics will capture the audience to lead them on an extraordinary adventure into Dante’s Inferno.

Festival della Valle D’Itria

Martina Franca (BA)

The Valley d’Itria Festival in Martina Franca was born in 1975 on the initiative of a group of music lovers led by Alessandro Caroli, the first president of the Festival, with the decisive support of Franco Punzi, then Mayor of Martina Franca, and Paolo Grassi, at the time superintendent of the Teatro alla Scala. Since its inception, the Festival has been characterized by the courageous revival of an underrated repertoire and performance practice.

Locus Festival

Locorotondo (BA)

Since its early editions, devoted to jazz sounds and the new frontiers of black music, Locus Festival in Locorotondo (BA) has immediately established itself as an internationally renowned festival, where the sounds that define the musical horizons of the future take root.

Locus started in a local dimension in 2005, in the small and welcoming circular historic center of Locorotondo, but immediately with an evident global inspiration developed with love and dedication over the years. Everything in Locus, from the name itself, to the logo, to the artistic program and the territorial context is “glocal”: in enhancing the local area it opens up to artistic globality, conscious tourism, overcoming geographical, demographic, economic, and stylistic boundaries.
